Since Marine Money had it's first conference in Turkey in 2004, shipping has fared well and during that time the Turkish shipping and shipbuilding industry flourished. The world is changed today. The container market is collapsed, dry bulk freight rates and values are very depressed and tanker markets are sliding. Not only this but the global financial crisis has caused trade and shipping finance to all but disappear. There is no doubt that 2009 will be one of the toughest years for all of us involved in shipping.

To make sense of the current turmoil and to steer your business towards calmer waters will take nerve and knowledge. Relationships with banks and counterparties have never been more important. Will the banks support in this steep downturn? Are the banks there to provide new finance for investment opportunities? Has Turkish shipbuilding turned into a liability for some shipowners? Can the Turkish order book be delivered? Will stronger owners be able to capitalise on the downturn and snatch up cheap assets?

The sixth annual Marine Money Istanbul Ship Finance on 30 April 2009 will discuss the issues with industry experts. Be there to hear how to weather the storm and take advantage of market opportunities.
